The studio has designed a 350,000 square foot, 12 story mixed-use development on the southeast side of Miami’s Wynwood arts district that is scheduled to commence construction August 2017.
In a sign of respect to the site’s vibrant surroundings and community, we set out to create a compelling homage to artistic creation. The resulting design reflects the neighborhood’s raw, industrial character and redefines a conventional residential tower as a work of art in and of itself.
The building is a blank canvas in a constant state of change at the behest of its inhabitants; a flexible hub conducive to their interactive, collaborative, creative lifestyles. Inside, soaring ceilings, an efficient prefabricated pod concept, and communal amenity spaces—from workshops to photo and recording studios—are featured on each floor.
Outside, at ground level, a vegetation-draped trellis extends from the building to provide canopy and shade, while the floors above are cloaked in reflective “curtains”: an ever-changing exterior installation that becomes a living reflection of its dynamic residents.
The building, which features ground floor retail, an extended-stay hotel, and 165 residential units, will be located at 2110 North Miami Avenue. Dror was awarded the commission by New York-based developers BazBaz Development, and collaborated with architect of record ADD Inc and landscape architect Raymond Jungles on the design.
