In 2013, the studio was asked to create a proposal for a park in Istanbul’s Sisli district, located approximately six miles north of the city center within the sprawling Fatih Forest. Our design for Parkorman features several installations that provoke unique, personal experiences and reintroduce nature to city life.
Within Parkorman, several linear paths intersect at a single point: the Fountain of Clarity. Conceived as a means for emotional cleansing, the fountain’s cube-shaped frame sends a screen of water—a literal mirror for reflection—down all four sides. To enter the structure, guests stand at one side and trigger a sensor-activated hydraulic piston that forms a temporary opening. Inside, guests are surrounded by walls of running water and see only the open sky. The rest of the world fades away.
